How do I Activate E-Clutch?
In order to begin asking Alexa questions, you must first activate the E-Clutch. To do this, say:
  1. "Alexa, Open E-Clutch"
  2. Once you have finished asking questions, close E-Clutch by saying:
  3. "Alexa, stop"
What questions can I ask E-Clutch?

E-Clutch can do a wide range of tasks, from giving you directions to an office, to finding professors you may need to get in contact with. To hear what questions you can ask E-Clutch say:

"I want to access the menu"

Alexa will then give you insturctions on what questions you may ask it

Please note the E-Clutch is currently only able to help you locate destinations within the Health, Science, Technology building (HST).

What is E-Clutch?
E-Clutch is a student led project, started by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Nathan Urban. Sponsored by the Creative Inquiry Department at Lehigh University, the Echo Hawks team seeks to utilize E-Clutch to facilitate a more efficient way of finding information on campus. This project was intended to assist international and first year students find information and navigate their lives on campus.
How does it work?

Use the activation phrase above to get started. Alexa can help you answer any question you have about the HST building. E.g. You could say "Alexa + (whatever your question is) ". Our team is still improving the system and any suggestions would be the most welcome.

Is Alexa recording my conversations?

No. Amazon is not in the business of selling its customers' information online. Therefore, if Alexa is not 'awake' it will not process or record your conversations. Be sure to end the session by saying:

"Alexa, stop"

How was E-Clutch coded?

Alexa typically utilizes the coding languages Java and Python. Students on the Echo Hawks team decided to use Python due to its friendly accessibility. After the code was finished, it is deployed and sent to the AWS server. After a few seconds, it is ready to test out.
